The European Medicines Agency (EMA) welcomes Stefano Marino as new Head of Legal Service.
An Italian national, Mr Marino holds a law degree from the University of Florence, where he graduated in international law. He is an expert in pharmaceutical and corporate law with a long career as legal counsel and member of senior management committees, most recently as Director of Corporate Legal and Intellectual Property at Sigma-Tau, a position that he held from 1997.
He was also Chairman of the Trademark Committee at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) from 2005.
As with all EMA staff members, Mr Marino is required to declare his interests in the pharmaceutical industry and to have divested himself of any shares in pharmaceutical companies before starting work at the Agency. The Agency uses the information in each staff member’s declaration of interests to determine his or her level of involvement in specific activities.
