Raison d’Être

Viglya’s commitment to its team and stakeholders includes achieving the company’s business objectives in a sustainable and responsible manner, while respecting environmental resources and social values.

Viglya strives for success in the bio- and pharmaceutical sectors by acting in accordance with its corporate values of excellence, adaptability, passion, and commitment. Additionally, Viglya fulfills its corporate philosophy by building strong, successful, and lasting professional relationships.

Since its inception, Viglya has earmarked part of its annual turnover to sponsoring environmental conservation projects that promote the sustainable use of natural resources and contribute to the promotion of responsible behaviour towards our planet.

Since the creation of ‘Eden of Viglya’, the Corporate Social Responsibility Program the company established in 2011, 1345 trees, all native species, have been planted in Valdeola, Santa Cruz de Bezana, San Martín de Impollar and Cap de Creus, areas of Spain in need of regeneration.

Project Objectives: Regeneration of Arroyos Otero y Palancarte.
Progress: Plantation of 300 trees of typical riverbank species.
Types of trees: Alders (Alnus glutinosa), ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and willows (Salix spp.)

Location:  Valdeolea, Cantabria, Spain.
Project Objectives: Reforestation in a burnt area of 86 acres.
Progress: Plantation of 300 trees of typical riverbank species.
Types of trees: Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), beech (Fagus sylvatica), oak oak (Quercus pyrenaica), hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), wild apple (Malus sylvestris) and wild pear (Pyrus pyraster).

San Martín del Pimpollar Project
Location: Sierra de Gredos, Castilla y León, Spain.
Project Objectives: Regeneration of Orzaduero mount.
Progress: Plantación de 345 árboles de especies autóctonas.
Types of trees: Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), birch (Betula alba) and rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).
Area: 135,90 ac

Project Objectives: Reforestation in a burnt area.
Progress: Plantation of 400 trees of typical riverbank species.
Types of trees: Stone pine (Pinus pinea), Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), cork oak (Quercus suber) and oak (Quercus ilex).

The Eden of Viglya project has made it possible for the Company to support projects geared towards environmentally beneficial scientific research and to obtain sustainable resources, leading to the development of rural areas and the conservation and protection of the environment.

Year after year, these Corporate Social Responsibility policies enable Viglya to reaffirm our commitment to biodiversity and mitigating CO2 emissions, with their impact calculated to reach 298.37 tonnes of CO2 absorption over 40 years, according to the methodology proposed by the Carbon Footprint, Compensation and Absorption Projects Registry of the Spanish Office for Climate Change.
