Only start strontium ranelate treatment in people for whom there are no other treatments for osteoporosis. Assess the risk of developing cardiovascular disease before starting treatment. Do not start treatment in people who have or have had:
Monitor cardiovascular risk every 6–12 months. Stop treatment if the individual develops ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, or cerebrovascular disease, or if hypertension is uncontrolled. |
